New hardcover book covered in gorgeous green faux fur/velvet, 309 pages. Published 2008

'The words of the deepest foretellings are riddles that want solving.'

'A riddle,' Little Fur echoed, and the word tasted tricky and complicated on her tongue and in her mind.

'Only in understanding the riddle can its solution be found.'

All her life, Little Fur has healed others. This time, it is she who needs healing. Severed from the flow of earth music, Little Fur must solve the riddle of her birth to save herself ....

Only the earth spirit that links all living things can help her, but can she find it in time? Little Fur begins a strange and dangerous journey that will take her far from her beloved wilderness and lead her deep into the secrets of her own past. Little Fur loses her connection to earth magic and sets out on a quest across the sea with a mad lemur and a shapeshifting panther, she unravels some of the mystery surrounding her own half-elf, half-troll origins.

Awards for the series

In the Little Fur books, children discover a complete world, richly imagined and filled with characters at once familiar and magical. They live in the overlooked pockets and wild places of our world, shunning those strange and alarming humans. Little Fur, an elf troll and a healer, becomes the unlikely guardian of her beloved wilderness, which lies hidden in the heart of an ancient city. Having faced greeps and brutish trolls, she must also penetrate the evil troll city to help protect the great earth spirit that nurtures all living things.

Geared to young middle-grade readers who are, like our troll heroine, still innocent and natural champions of our earth, Little Fur is an eco-fantasy as wise and fey as it is adventurous and suspenseful. With black-and-white illustrations by the author throughout.
