New softcover book, 256 pages. Published 1999.
The Green and Gold Cookery Book was compiled in 1923 as a fundraising initiative of King's College (now King's Campus, Pembroke School) In 1999, Pembroke School celebrated 25 years since its foundation and the 75th Anniversary of King's College. This edition of the Green and Gold Cookery Book was published in acknowledgement of those milestone events.
The Green and Gold Cookery Book has been a feature of South Australian domestic life for more than 75 years. First published in 1923, the Green and Gold has sold more than 500,000 copies and influenced the cooking practices of thousands of South Australians. It was started as a fund raiser for King's College by four women from the Congregational and Baptist Unions. The school community contributed recipes and advertising space within the book was sold to offset the cost of publishing the original edition. The Green and Gold Cookery Book is regarded as a classic Australian recipe book.
