17. Tonight on the Titanic - Jack and Annie travel back to 1912 and are on the RMS Titanic during her fateful voyage. In this arc the two are assisted by a dog named Teddy that they must find gifts to free.

18. Buffalo Before Breakfast - In the American Old West, Jack and Annie encounter a Lakota boy on the Great Plains.

19. Tigers at Twilight - Jack and Annie explore the Indian jungles of the past.

20.Dingoes at Dinnertime - Set in ancient Australia. Jack and Annie receive the final gift and return home where Morgan removes the spell on the dog who is revealed to be a boy named Teddy who is a young magician who trapped himself under a spell. This story introduces the character of Teddy who becomes a friend and ally to Jack and Annie over later stories.

About the author and illustrator

Mary Pope Osborne (born May 20, 1949) grew up in the military, and by the time she was fifteen had lived in Oklahoma, Austria, Florida and four different army posts in Virginia and North Carolina. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the early 1970's, Mary traveled all over Europe, and spent the first six weeks of her trip living in a cave on the island of Crete. She then joined up with a group of European young people and traveled in rickety vans through sixteen Asian countries, including Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Nepal. She was a bartender, an acting teacher, a waitress, a travel agent, a window dresser, and a medical assistant - all before becoming an author!

Now she is the author of many highly acclaimed novels, picture books, story collections and non-fiction books. She currently works with her sister, Natalie Pope Boyce, on the nonfiction companion titles to the Magic Tree House books. She lives in Goshen, Connecticut, with her husband, Will, and their two Norfolk terriers, Joey and Mr. Bezo. Mary's award-winning and bestselling Magic Tree House series has been translated into over 20 languages and sold over 53 million copies.

Sal Murdocca has illustrated over 200 children’s trade and text books. He is also a librettist for children’s opera, a video artist, an avid runner, hiker, and bicyclist, and a teacher of children’s illustration at the Parsons School of Design. Sal lives and works in New York, New York with his wife, Nancy.
