About Tashi's creators
The Tashi books are written by Anna Fienberg and her mother, Barbara Fienberg. They are illustrated by Kim Gamble.
Anna Fienberg (born 1956 in England) is an Australian writer of young-adult fiction and children's literature. She moved with her family to Australia at the age of three. She worked as an editor for School Magazine. Her fisrt book, Billy Bear and the Wild Winter, was published in 1988 In 1989 Fienberg released her first novel, The Nine Lives of Balthazar. She has won the Children's Book of the Year Award: Younger Readers in 1992 for The Magnificent Nose and Other Marvels and has been a short-list nominee on four other occasions. Anna also won the Alan Marshall Award for Children's Literature in 1993 for Ariel, Zed & the Secret of Life, and the 2003 Aurealis Award for best children's short fiction for Tashi and the Haunted House. She has also been an Aurealis Award finalist on four other occasions
Kim Gamble was born in Sydney. He moved around and worked in a variety of occupations before beginning at the age of 36 to illustrate stories for children. His first assignment was for the School Magazine (where he still works part-time 15 years later). It was there he met Anna Fienberg, with whom he has since produced more than twenty books, including The Magnificent Nose, the Tashi books, the Minton series and Joseph.
